Stomorska, the oldest coastal settlement on the island of Solta has a long tradition in tourist trade. Hotel Olint was opened in 1938. The village gave many skilled seafarers, and this tradition is linked today with tourism. Stomorska is the harbour of the tourist sailing boats fleet.
 

The shrine of Our Lady of Stomorija or Our Lady in the Pines is the centre of religious tourism, and Gornje Selo (3 km) offers fine opportunities for rural tourism.
 

Stomorska has several fine restaurants, and recreation is linked to water sports opportunities. The south of Solta has many beautiful coves: Livka, Travna, Stracinska, Grabova and Senjska. The Gornja Krusica cove, east of Stomorska, is a weekend and summer resort.
 

STOMORSKA, a village on the north-eastern coast of the island of Solta; population 117. Chief occupations are farming, seafaring, fishing and tourism. Situated on the regional road running along the island. Ferry and catamaran connections with Split and the island of Brac.
 

The settlement started to develop from the beginning of the 18th century. Above Stomorska, on the slope of Vela Straza Hill, the Baroque church of Our Lady in the Pines (Madonna with Child, painting on the wood, with Baroque silver frame, a work by the local school, 15th-16th c.) is situated. The graveyard around the church has fragments of the ancient sarcophagi.
