Pakostane real estate, property informations, search our base of Croatia real estate, General informations

Pakostane is an important tourist resort, which has been developing tourism since the sixties, when the first tourist villages were built. Natural environment - an old forest of pine, nice beaches and coves - adds to the pleasant atmosphere of Pakostane. Below it, there is a range of attractive islands. Pakostane has a number of restaurants and taverns (wine-cellars), discotheques, sports and recreational facilities (tennis, table tennis, beach volleyball, etc.). An important element is a rich selection of home-made food because the chief occupation of the majority of the population is farming. - Drage, 3 km from Pakostane, is a picturesque place with an exceptionally beautiful coast and nice pebble beaches. It is rightly called an oasis of peace and tranquillity.

Many traditional feasts and events are regularly organized: the carnival, the feast called Krizi (Crosses) (40 days after Easter), the Municipal Day (30th of July), Summer Festival (first week in August).

PAKOSTANE, a small town and harbour on the isthmus which separates Vransko Lake from the sea, 8 km south of Biograd na Moru; population 2,155. Chief occupations are farming, fishing and tourism. It comprises an older part along the coast and a newer part along the main road (M2, E65). The harbour is protected by the islets of Babuljas, Veli Skolj and Sveta Justina; it is exposed to the south-westerly winds.

On several locations there are remains of an ancient settlement; below the cemetery, near the sea, are the foundations of a Roman villa. In the sea one can see the remains of a Roman breakwater. One of the branches of the Roman waterworks, which led from Vrana to Zadar, was directed to Pakostane.
